About this event
The Paper and Section Repair course is an necessary pre-requisite before moving onto book repair. The paper of a text can be damaged in numerous ways and repairing a case or spine without care of the paper is counter-productive.
This course will progress through demonstrations and practical examples for the students including wrinkled pages, dog-eared corners, various tears and various methods to repair those tears. The taught methods will include use of a water pen, matching papers, laying techniques and will then move onto section spine repairs and simple book repairs.
On July 19th there will be a one-day course on repair of the cover, including techniques for broad range of repair from simple cleaning to rebacking and rebinding.
Together these two one-day courses will provide the basics for you to repair treasured books at home. Please note that this is not a conservation course.
